Kananaskis Hike near Bragg Creek 2019

A fall walk in the foot hills just outside of Calgary in Southern Alberta.  The aspen stands, which had yet to change to their fall golden colour, crowded the path like zebras enveloping a pride of lions.  Whiskey jacks and downy wood peckers flitted amongst their branches and the lodgepole pines.

Elvie amongst the aspens.

Ruins

Colour is everywhere.

Lichens coat the dead and live trees, leaving evidence of renewal.

View across the prairie to the foot hills.

Flaming fields.

Mushrooms poke out of new growth

Mark leads the way.

High ground.
