Baja California Sur San Jose del Cabos Beach life Chapter 1

February 7,  tired of Calgary winter we headed south to the southern tip of Baha peninsula, located on the wet coast of Mexico, for 10 day respite from the cold and a dose of vitamin D.  We stayed at the Barcelo hotel, located right on the coast of the Sea of Cortez.

Walking through the lobby of the hotel greets the visitor with this view of the sea and intervening beach.

The cabanas provided for a place to hide, a more private experience.

Cheryl whale watching

The whales were plentiful adjacent to the beach and readily visible.  Here is a humpback whale breaching.  Grey whales were also plentiful.  An Orca pod is also in the area.

Of coarse with whales come the sharks selling fake silver, blankets, hats, scarfs, and trinkets.  You were politely accosted whenever you approached the beach.

Someone was homesick (maybe not)

A couple of volleyball nets were set up for the guests.

Coconut trees lined the beach.

Speaking of which.  Hotels lined the beach between the towns.

The sand was coated in gold, ok, maybe mica.  It was beautiful in the right light.

At dusk.
