Day at Powell River followed by Pirate's Cove - Summer vacation 2013

As with the start of most journeys, we had a start line - otherwise known of the ferry queue.  In this instance we were off to Powell River, located on an island north of Seschelt. Hard to get a head of steam up given the presence of speed bumps.

Light plays between the mountains

We had an ideal location, nearly first on the ferry - (Rav4).

We were on the Island sky.

Jockeying positions with the biker gang wannabes.  I saw and equal mix of Harleys, Goldwings and BMWs on the road.

The offshore salmon hatcheries could be seen along the shoreline.

The air played with the colours in mid day,

Adding shimmer to the Ferry tracks

offering up dazzling views of the mountains,

and colourful cottages

I found this wooden Rock.

Along the coast, Arbutus trees can be found.  These loose their bark similar to the eucalyptus trees of Australia.  I do not recall seeing them anywhere else in Canada.

Pirate's Cove

Located just north of Seschelt, access required walking along a wooden walkway through a bog.

to access the cove.  It would appear that others had found anchorage there.

Along the shoreline, one could readily see magenta and orange star fish.
