We had never stayed in Banff during the cusp
between fall and winter so we decided to spend the weekend there. The
temperature dropped to just below 0 C, and we had some flurries that decided
not to hang around - at least in the town. The snow was collecting up on
the mountains and where it really matters on Sunshine's slopes ( the local ski
hill ). Other than the skiers warming themselves after a
day's outing, there was little happening.
Banff Avenue, straight through the heart of Banff.
This was a sculpture of a camp site, hat, pack
and firepit with coffee pot
The last few leaves remained on the local
aspens.
It did not take long to find them. Many
were collecting in the river creating a natural collage.
It was wandering down by the Bow river shoreline
that I saw this view of the Bridge. I don't recall ever seeing this side
of it before.
The pebble work went right through the bridge walls. All stones and rocks used to construct the bridge came from the Bow River.
Mount Rundle was clearly in view.
The town center is host to some 80 restaurants, including the Eddie burger.
The Spirit Bear guarding the Whyte Museum
Bears were a constant motif
Even the bull elks were in the town for a beer.
The females were left at home - or at least the fields outside of the village.
The Eddie burger??? What the heck is that...
