Heading north on the Island to Massett (Haida Gwaii)

Off to explore, we headed north to the towns of Massett and Old Massett

Wandering into the town left me a vaguely familiar feeling.  We immediately spotted homes designed like military PMQs (married quarters) and this mostly abandoned complex.

Black tail deer were everywhere, as were black bear.  It is a good thing that they were mostly sedate as they lined the only highway on the island between QCC and Massett

We found this bakery in the middle of no where on the stretch to the end of highway 16.  The bread was great.  There was a queue for it.

We went for a hike to Tow hill on the north shore.  Came across this eagle taking life easy.

The north shore had cliff faces creating quite the view out into the ocean... that is if the sky ever cleared.    It rained on us every day we were on the island

I found this kelp skin on the rocks.  Was not quite sure what to make of it initially.  Kelp was plentiful all along the shore line.
