Cancun, Mexico - Hotel Gran Melia

Finally a break, even better, a break with sunshine, warmth, water, and tequila.  Yes, Mexico over the holiday season.  One week of sun, frolic, and adventure.  It certainly started right, leaving Calgary in near 0 deg C conditions, and arriving in Cancun with the temperature 27C.  Perfect.

The view from my room

Needless to say, we had to get acquainted with the facilities, which meant wandering around after dinner.  There were a couple of pools - as it turned out with little use after sunset.

The entrance fountain picking up the Mayan theme.

And best, sand sun and turquoise coloured surf.

The beaches became more of a hub of activity as the afternoon wore on.

While I was surprised that there were no wind surfers, or kite surfers, there were a number of these para gliders.  One day later in the week, three ultralights flew by (not shown in the photo).

While the adults sat around drinking, the youth made the best of the weather.

Even the seagulls seemed to enjoy the view.

On the facility, there were a number of statues.   I caught Ryan in a threesome.

The chairs near the pool of the dead were not filled until later in the morning.

Finally U2 1/4 showed up for a photo op.  They never seem to focus.
