Road Trip, Sandbanks Park through Kingston Ontario

Road trips are always great, and it is difficult to beat wandering through southern Ontario in October.  Here are a few photographs from the Picton area, including a visit to Sandbanks Provincial Park.

I believe there may have been four visitors in the park when we wandered through.  While the weather was variable, rain and cold, it provided some great vistas.  Here they have erected fences preparing for the fall weather and related wind erosion.

The rain made the forests look glossy

During the summer, the sand could burn your feet as you rushed, hopping from shade to shade, to the shoreline.  No problems today, with temperatures hovering around 5 C.

The Prince Edward county area is definitely rural.  My uncle still owns a farm in the area albeit he has sold off portions of his properties to not so rustic cottagers.  The Lake Ontario shore line is becoming a particularly hot cottage area.  It's no wonder when you consider the warm summers and spectacular falls.

We crossed on the way to Kingston on the Glenora Ferry.  Again the shore line does not disappoint.

This area could compete with any in the world for life style.  Note that wineries have been sprouting up in the county, although it will take a few years before they will produce products that can compete on the world stage.

It was Ryan's idea to make the road trip.  I need to listen to my kids more.
