Baja California Sur Chapter 3 Whale Watching

Being landlocked in Alberta, with no large bodies of water nearby - Calgary's reservoir being one of the largest - I find myself attracted to the shore lines and their changing features.  We took a whale watching trip  with these photos distilled from the collection.  Early morning through the day.

This was the first humpback whale spotted.  She was travelling with a calf.

We sat for 10-15 minutes with the motors off, and this calf popped up directly beside the boat.

It was then that the rays started jumping all around us.  I now understood the meaning of the statue in front of the hotel.

Looking to the shoreline, we could see the desert butting against the beach.  The mountains that form the backbone to the peninsula can be seen at the horizon. The green was cactus and shrubs.

Silver everywhere

Then we came across the sea lions basking trying to warm themselves.  The good life.

All in all a great day.
