Summer Vacation 2013 - On the way to Half Moon Bay

July wanes meaning another break from the trials and tribulations of work, or so I had hoped.  As it turned out, while work followed me this time Cheryl and I still managed to find a few days to relax. We travelled from Calgary through the BC interior to Half Moon Bay, just north of Seschelt - a small community on BCs Sunshine Coast where we had rented a cottage for 10 days.

Unlike other trips to the coast, this one included great weather - 23-28C, blue skies, calm days.  We travelled through Kelowna, and stayed at Harrison hot springs - just east of Vancouver -  where we were treated with our first warm night, and firebombers cleaning up a small forest fire across the lake.

The community was very small, and seemed to be supplemented by a number of day trippers from the nearby cities.  The main drag terminated at the beach and formed the centre attraction for the community.

The owner of the our host motel was aware of the oncoming fire fight, and had advised us to watch the bay.  We were treated to slow motion bombardment of the small fire.  Almost as if they had requested this attraction as the evening entertainment.

The owner had advised us to avoid the small pond adjacent to the bay.  Canadian Geese were everywhere and cases of swimmers itch had been identified.  Of coarse most of the visitors were in this pond.  Always pays to ask the locals.

The view out into the bay was spectacular as the sun set.

The kids never quit before the sun sets.

and create dazzling light displays in the process.

The following day we headed to Seschelt via the Vancouver ferry.

We all passed the time.

And finally Beth's cottage with the gardens.

Daisy bracketed the house

And finally the first sunset, photo taken from her balcony.
