Flying high on Canada Day - Calgary to Lake Louise

Another Canada day, was upon us, but this was different as George was as bored with the status quo as I was and invited me for a flight.  His plan, cruise from Calgary to Lake Louise at 8500 ft, approximately the same elevation of the peaks of the Rockies.  How could I say no?

The skies were powder blue, with virtually no wind.  Bankers hall and the Calgary Tower are visible.

A closer view of the cockpit.

We headed north west, following the Trans Canada Highway.   Here Ghost lake appears.  The haze, evident at the horizon builds as the day wears on.

As we approached the Rockies, puffy clouds appear.

Rocks bent with time, sandstone, limestone clearly evident.

The fire watch can be seen on the left hand side of the mountain.  Even with the heat of summer, the ice can still be seen.

Looked like the Materhorn.  This was one of the 2 peaks that exceeded 11000 ft in the area.

We were experiencing a small amount of buffeting as we crossed the valleys.
