Blue Rock awakening for spring

Perhaps we were a little early the first week in May, but my eldest son and I decided to go camping - tenting.  The foothills were awakening from the winter slumber, the animals were not as cautious as the previous fall, often stopping to check us out.  From red squirrels to grouse, the animals were checking us out.

Not all the green was natural.  Someone's idea of a joke I presume.

Most of the aspens were bare

but not all.  Some stands were showing the first buds.

I was surprised to find some of the alpine flowers blooming - with a few snow flakes

Franklin gulls were back

and of coarse mallards

The clouds were threatening.  It snowed the second day we were there and we headed home.
