Little Bow - wake boarding fiasco

Saturday, late June, Little Bow Lake, 32 deg. C how can life be better?  I had been invited to join festivities aboard the good ship chaos.

Who were the players you ask?

Babe no 1  Shelley, non competitive but athletic, reserved, beautiful and married to ..

the devil, alias Tony.  The red is not sun tan, but his natural colour.  Normally he hides his evil side with his bon homme attitude, praise being dished out liberally, self effacing, but all these positive characteristics disappear once he gets behind the wheel of the boat.

Lori, über parent no 1, gung ho, willing to risk all for the thrill of the moment, providing a positive role model for her son and hubby.

Ken, uber parent no 2, laid back, observant, clearly wise beyond his years as he was not interested in suffering with me...

Nathan, son of uber parents, wirey, mild mannered, a meek and mild facade masking his ultra competitive self.  A spitfire hidden by mild mannerisms.

a family that plays together stays together...the incredibles (less the daughter and the suits).  Little did they know what was in store for them.

Shelley, Did I say non competitive?  First in the water, elbowing us out of the way.  Confident, suave,

clearly in control..

clearly...uhh

ok, Rico Suave.  The Russian judge awarded 8.5/10

Nathan, applying the stoic approach, readies himself for glory.

a sign of things to come

Lori, not to be out done

also has her moment of glory........

your humble author, pensive, also having alternate purpose

a sea anchor.  The benefits of dual usage were strained back, hamstring pull, sore shoulder,  and lots of bubbles.

and of course, the life guard did not help.

Tony continues to hold in the chuckles.

Only Nathan knew which way the beach was.

The most competitive ones, confident in their abilities and the lack of quality of their competitors, sit quietly conserving their energy.

rocken..  you can almost hear the music.

did I say hold in the chuckles?  They made a mistake of taunting him and he ups the anti, knowing they were bored on the first run.  Note that the brighter of the group, Ken, bowed out.

You can see the joy and excitement in their faces

really

Not satisfied, and Tony was kind enough to help them from the couch, the hard way.

The wise one stayed behind

And so Nathan gets his second breath

Shelley, again demonstrating her dominance, took over the kneeling board.

we watched the master

Only to be surpassed by Nathan, too competitive for his own good, the little pr.....k.  Rode all the way back while we licked our wounds.

ah youth.  some day he will suffer like the rest of us.

The sad fact the devil made it look far too easy.  I refused to take his picture.  Maybe next time when I up my insurance and book a massage therapist, I will be better able to keep up.
