June in Calgary and greater area

June in the Calgary and the foothills provides many opportunities to engage with the natural world. These photographs were taken during a number of short day trips in the greater Calgary area (including the Columbia Ice field and Waterton national park).

This young grizzly was munching on grasses and flowers in an alpine meadow just north of Waterton.

A herd of mountain goats wandered down to lick salt from a road in the Blue Rock Wild area.
