Peter Lougheed Provincial Park - a Kananaskis gem

A September trip into Kananaskis, specifically Upper Kananaskis Lake, yields phenomenal vistas tempered with gold.  Kananaskis is a short drive from Calgary, approximately 1 1/2 hrs, which meanders past the '81 Olympic skiing facility of Nakiska.   The traveller is treated to golden aspens and larch, sprinkled through the evergreen forest.  Further as one travels higher into the mountains, at or above the tree line, you encounter shrubs and bushes covering the entire spectrum of colours found in a typical camp fire.

It was not hard to find "standouts" along highway 40.

Did you ever have the feeling that someone or something was watching you as you walked through the woods.  Sometimes those feelings are justified.

Visit 2 - a definitive change in the weather.  This time the photos were taken on the other side of the peninsula evidently in the previous 2 photos.
